Welcome to GOOBERGAME, where you are a lil' goober who has to fight against enemies chained up where dealing damage to one enemy affects all :o

This is a prototype of a future project I plan to work on!

In this survival rouge-like game, you have to chop down trees and rocks to sell in your STORAGE chest and/or killing chained enemies to gain coins to buy and upgrade weapons and stuff from the merchant nearby to gain the tools needed to fight against a few mini bosses along the way as well as the big and evil GERLARD the BIG. (His name was supposed to be called Gerald or however you spell it but during dev I mispelt his name and rolled with it)

With this, you only have 1 inventory slot. You must use it wisely to carry the item you need the most, such as an axe or a sword. You can sell some stuff in the chest as well as anything (except tools) into the trash can for 1 coin each. Sell ur stuff too, because you'll need the money for the merchant, and you should especially use it.

FIGHTing is VERY nessesary, because without it, the chain grows into as powerful being.  If the chain grows to much, well uhhhh, you're ded.

WARNING: Since this game was made for a game jam, the code might be a little... eh. If your game freezes, everything is apples (yes that's a real bug), or you die, just restart the page and you should be good :| (Also, this game is recommended on a good pc and NOT on laptops and then you shall be fine. It's not the fps that's the problem, its how big the game is when running.)

STORY:

You are a goober. A little gooberly goober who has no thought inside of your head. Fortunatly, this life is nice. UNfortunatly, your species is almost practically extinct, with two other goobers beside you still alive. The reason: all other creatures in the land besides goobers are connected in a chain --- like a hive mind. when you attack one, you alert the others as you attack all. (This leads to it being easier to kill chains than goobers, but you goobers only have a fraction of a fraction of a brain cell.) because of that, your species is dead. Except two others: a merchent and GERLARD. The merchant somehow has a braincell, which gave him the thought to sell items. GERLARD had the bad idea to join the chained side instead, for any particular reason. Oh yeah, and Gerlard also said that in like three days or so he would come and beat you up i guess. Maybe consider preparing..?

There are a lot of cool systems in this game and I like the art/music. But I wasn't sure what to do, and it took so long for me to figure out how to play that I was losing interest. I suggest putting all the controls in the tutorial because not everyone will scroll down to the description and read them. I suggest making the gameplay experience simple at first, starting with one system like tree chopping or combat. Then, when the player learns how to do basic stuff, introduce them to the other systems in the game. This is to prevent overloading the player with information. This has great potential, I think you just need to take the things you already made and arrange them into an easier gameplay experience for new players.
